Hurricane Laura – Port Updates

Hurricane Laura made landfall last night hitting Lake Charles, LA, and causing some destruction to the city’s downtown district. Wind gusts were reported as high as 132 mph, but the storm shows rapid weakening as it progresses northward. The storm is on track to move over Arkansas tonight and hit the mid-Atlantic states by Saturday, losing steam as it goes. Currently, it is expected to downgrade to a tropical storm by tonight.

Gulf ports Houston and New Orleans had announced closures due to Hurricane Laura and below are the latest updates:

Port of Houston: Still closed for vessel operations. Port hopes to re-open Friday, August 28th, weather depending.

Port of New Orleans: Currently open and operating with normal hours and services.

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
